I Dream of Zimbabwe

In late 1998 when first traveling to Africa I never imagined it would be where my heart longs to be. My sights were set for the Mediterranean & Middle East. God knew something different.

While living in Cyprus I was able to travel in Africa. Those travels took me to Kenya, Ethiopia, & Tunisia. Three very different experiences. During that time many people came through my life from around the world. There was a large number of those who had some connection with Zimbabwe. Only now looking back can I see that God was planting a seed.

Fast forward to 2002 back in the US. I was longing to return to the Mediterranean & Middle East but it just didn't seem to be happening. That Fall I finally realized it was something that I must lay down before the Lord. I remember one day looking back on my trips to Africa and thinking maybe I could live there but not certain. Again a seed.

At the end of 2002 I met my husband, a Zimbabwean, on the internet. As we began to get to know each other I craved learning about this Zimbabwe he called home. I have traveled to Africa, but never stayed longer than 2 weeks at a time. What was it like growing up there in the midst of a war, a birth of a new nation, and to watch it slowly fall apart. Over the course of the last four years Zimbabwe has become my home. I have never lived there but it is home. I can't explain it other than God has made it so.

My heart cries out for Zimbabwe and it people. I Dream of Zimbabwe a land filled with beautiful people, landscapes and stories.

In this season I feel God drawing me into a time of intercession for Zimbabwe. I don't know where it will lead. I will take it one day at a time.

I Dream of Zimbabwe rightfully restored, a place of peace, a place of unity. I Dream of Zimbabwe.
